FED: Govt defends women's role at 2020 summit

CANBERRA, Feb 27 AAP - The federal government has defended the gender make-up of the
prime minister's 2020 summit leadership team, saying six co-chairs will be women.

But the opposition says the role of the co-chair is to moderate discussion, not generate ideas.

Politicians and women's groups have voiced concern that only one woman - actor Cate
Blanchett - was included on the summit's independent steering committee.
