Fed: Aussie firm's seats to prop up Athens spectators

An Australian company has secured a $3.2 million contract to supply seating for the
Athens Olympics, and is now in a race against time to deliver them.

New South Wales Treasurer MICHAEL EGAN says Gosford-based Starena International will
provide 90,000 plastic seats for the main Olympic stadium and an indoor arena.

The win follows Starena's contract to provide 5,000 seats to the Athens Beach Volleyball
Centre and contracts for the tennis centre and equestrian facility.

Mr EGAN says the securing of the contract for the main stadium against 16 international
competitors is a jewel in the crown for Starena.

He says with the Sydney and Athens Olympic Games under its belt, this central coast
company will be well-placed for future events including Beijing's 2008 Olympics and beyond.

Starena's managing director NOEL CARTY says his small company's racing to complete
the work before the Games begin on August the 13th.
